Temperature

De Grachtwacht measures the temperature of the canal every hour. These are automated measurements in the water near the Marebrug at a water depth of approximately 75 cm.

The main water system of Rijnland (water authority), which the Leiden canals are part of, is kept at around NAP-0,62 metre. This means we measure the water temperature at approximately -1,37 meter NAP.

The current water temperature is 5,0 degrees Celsius. This was measured on Tuesday 21 January 2025, 00:06.
